The Speedy Start-Up Program

Successful entrepreneurship in today's economy is all about getting things started fast and then learning and improving as you go along. The Speedy Start-Up will take you through 12 weeks of activities designed to move you from your idea to launching your business so you can begin learning immediately about what is and isn't working and can refine your business model to maximize your opportunities.

This program will be about taking action and learning from experience. You will be doing customer research, developing your product or service, creating your business model (including pricing and identifying different ways to generate revenue) and taking all the steps necessary to launch your business and begin refining it with the 12-week program.

Note that while we will connect you to assistance for setting up the legal and financial structures of your business, our primary focus will be on refining your business idea, finding customers and testing your business in the marketplace so you can be sure that you have a viable plan.

Overview
Who Should Participate?

This opportunity is open to 10-12 Bucks County, PA residents who are 18 years or older and who are unemployed or who have received a notice of lay-off. You don't need to have a specific idea for your business, but you DO need to be willing to:

  • Make starting your business your number 1 priority for at least the next 3 months.

  • Attend all in-person sessions. Note--You MUST be able to attend the all-day Jumpstart Session on January 21, 2015 in order to participate!

  • Complete all assignments and activities.

  • Set and achieve your own goals with minimal direction from others.

  • Share information, resources and feedback with your fellow entrepreneurs.

  • Actively network and sell your business idea.

  • Actively contribute not only to your own success, but to the success of our community of entrepreneurs.

  • Invest the time and energy needed to develop your business.

Don't worry if some of these things make you a little nervous or unsure. We'll be providing you with ample support and coaching. You just need to be willing to do new things and to learn and grow throughout this start-up process. You CAN be successful, but you have to be willing to do the work!

The Speedy Start-Up is NOT for you if:

  • You aren't willing to put in the work and commitment it takes to build a start-up operation.

  • You don't want to be part of a community of entrepreneurs and want to do everything by yourself.

  • You give up easily when faced with challenges.

  • You are uncomfortable using technology.

To be considered for the program, you will need to submit the online application. We will select potential participants who will then need to go through an interview with the Speedy Startup facilitators and an eligibility appointment at the Bucks County PA CareerLink.

You will also want to attend one of our Information Sessions that will be held at the Bucks County Career Link. See the Home Page for more information and to register for the Information session.
